Benefits of Polyurethane

Abrasion Resistance
Urethane is able to outperform rubber, plastic or metal in severe abrasion and wear applications.

Adhesion
Polyurethane formulations is able to adhesively bonded to most metals or virtually any other material regardless of rigid or flexible.

Chemical Resistance
Polyurethane formulations also have strong resistance to most solvents, chemicals, aliphatic based oils, greases and etc.

Toughness
Polyurethane is non-brittle even at higher hardness and able to resists fracture during shock or impact loading.

Tooling Cost
Polyurethane is a liquid cast material; therefore tooling costs are significantly less than making metal molds.

Tensile Strength
Urethane can also be formulated to a high tensile strength while still maintaining its elastic characteristics.

Temperature Range
Polyurethane can be formulated to operate into specific temperature range.

Tear Strength
Polyurethane is by far more superior to rubbers in all applications.

Resilience
Polyurethane can be custom formulated to give hard polyurethanes similar resiliency as much softer materials, making urethane an excellent material for shock/vibration absorption.

Dimensional Stability
Polyurethane formulations have excellent dimensional stability over a broad range of temperatures and pressures. Urethane also has excellent elastomeric memory. They can be stretched (even at high hardness) to substantial elongations and return to their original imensions.

Electrical Properties
Polyurethane formulations offer a combination of electrical properties, such as dielectric strength, dielectric constant, resistively and power factor. Urethane is an excellent insulating material. With additives, urethane can also be formulated to be electrically conductive.

Environmental Resistance
Polyurethane is more resistant than natural or synthetic rubber to sunlight and general weather conditions.

Durometer
Polyurethane can also be formulated to cover a wide range of durometer.

Hydrolytic Stability
Polyether based urethane prepolymer formulations have superior hydrolytic stability and are suitable for applications requiring immersion.
